Ensuring Your Comfort and Well-Being

At Springs Dental Care, we strive to provide our valued patients exceptional care in a warm and comfortable environment where they feel safe and free from stress. We never spare any effort to ensure you have the best possible experience.

Before extracting your wisdom teeth, we will numb the treatment area using a local anesthetic for your comfort. We are also happy to offer a range of sedation dentistry options, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral conscious sedation (a prescription you'll take before treatment), to help you relax during treatment. Our team will help you choose the ideal sedation dentistry option to address your unique needs and enhance your patient experience.

Promoting Healing After Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Proper care after wisdom teeth extraction is necessary to promote healing. Make sure to follow the post-operative instructions we provide, and let us know if you have any questions. We will prescribe pain relief medication for use as needed in the days following your wisdom teeth extraction to address any discomfort.

After your tooth extraction, you'll need to bite down on clean gauze for a few hours to help control the bleeding and encourage a blood clot to form in the tooth's socket. Refrain from drinking through a straw, smoking, spitting, or rinsing vigorously for at least 48 hours so you don’t dislodge the clot forming in the socket, which could lead to a painful complication known as dry socket.

Make sure to consume soft foods like mashed potatoes or yogurt for a few days and avoid eating hot or spicy foods, which can irritate the extraction site. After about 24 hours, rinse gently with warm salt water after every meal to clean the area. Continue brushing and flossing gently while avoiding the extraction area. If you experience increased pain, bleeding, or swelling, or if you have any concerns, make sure to contact our office for guidance.
